Re: “Finding ex-cons jobs

I am a career criminal.
I grew up in a corrupt family, filled with people who could not deny their criminal intentions.
Ages four to eight, was a sex toy for parental drug debts. When my mom owed money, she gave me. I was raped on Christmas Eve when I was eight years old by my nineteen year old male cousin.
At eleven, I was in my first drug rehab for four months, because of alcoholism. I started Drinking at nine. My mother chose to allow a man doing life in prison,to be my step parent. She married him while he was in prison, and he later paroled to our house. He was addicted to murder and alcohol. He taught me everything from drinking to murder in six short years.
My second drug rehab was at thirteen in Washington State. I was addicted to Amphetamines in pill form, which I got from my mother.
Kicked out at thirteen, I was left for the streets to raise. In and out of juvenile detention, Job Corp, and later prison. All behind terrible parenting.
I have an Associates Degree that has profited me nothing. Can build houses, work on cars, lost a twenty-four year nursing career because of my current crime. Aggravated Residential Burglary. A Class B Felony in Arkansas. I saw my fiance` engaged with another man. I snapped.
I have suffered through child abuse, gang violence, discrimination, drug abuse, prison and now, red flagged every time I put in an application.
Is there help for people like me. Single fathers who are doing all they can to make it honestly, only falling short time and time again.

HERE IS A QUESTION FOR SOCIETY...

Would you rather employ those who are willing to work, Or would you rather overlook the one that is trying to make a change in their life, and leave them to what they know. Whether that be selling drugs to your children or robbing your company for the days benefits.
Many Criminals are only criminals because they got caught ... Go to prison for a night and you will not want to go for seconds. People who have been to prison are not trying to go back. Help us stay out by allowing us to work.
I can't speak for the nation, but I know for me, I have to be able to survive. And at this point, I am running out of options.
