Re: “Sculpture chosen for Southwest Community Center

I am glad that Little Rock is supporting the sculpture show and placing works around the city. Thanks for pointing out again that we continue to buy art from Colorado instead of supporting worthy Arkansas artists. Is there any way to spread the spoils around? Most of the Colorado artists chosen for these public commissions already have works in place in Little Rock. Yet there are works in the Statehouse Convention Center that are "on loan" and have never been bought and placed permanently even though many have been "on loan" since the convention center was remodeled in 2001 and art was placed in 2001 and 2002.

Re: “Nuclear strategy by Twitter in an unsettled world

The nukes don't even have to get in the wrong hands. Watch "Command and Control" http://www.commandandcontrolfilm.com/ about the near miss here in our state in 1982. More nukes means more chances for the accident waiting to happen.

Re: “Censorship at Fayetteville Underground empties gallery of artists

Censorship is not taken lightly by artists and should never be by anyone. Similar nudity has been shown in the gallery before and it wasn't a problem. Art is controversial by nature and will often make viewers uncomfortable. Anyone who has stepped into a museum more than once in their life will understand that. The handling of the situation and the firing of two excellent workers, one a volunteer and board member, was a big mistake by the board of directors (imo). And it wasn't the first mistake by the board or the first time an important person in the organization was let go over a minor squabble. This was a gallery started by artists. Over the years the artists got demoted (they can't run a gallery, put up exhibits, man the sales desk, fix and repair the building...and still do their artwork) and a board of directors was established. The artists are not "entitled, academic nitwits". They are hard working intellectuals with something to say about life. No one gave them anything that wasn't worked hard for, usually for little or no wage or compensation.

Re: “A day of ideas for a spruced up Arts Center: The architects present

Aren't hyper realistic dogs and monkeys (Donald Roller Wilson) enough? His paintings have much more interesting stories than those dogs sitting around playing poker, Strong Night Winds, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, Nut Farms...open that checkbook.

Re: “Eureka Springs woman fights SWEPCO, wins $4.2 million refund

It will be interesting to see how the "one time credit" is handled. A few years ago our natural gas service company was bought out and there was a "one time credit" given. But the refund/credit wasn't publicized and I talked to many who didn't know it happened. Some people ended up with a credit on that months bill and paid the credit, not realizeing they had received a refund. My business uses a lot of natural gas. When I looked at the credit that I received (about $29) and looked at what I would have received any other month of the year (my business was on vacation and furnaces were off the month of the credit) it was surprising. In a normal month (any 11 other months of the year) I would have received over $1000 credit. So where did the credit go to? I figure it went to big manufacturers who use natural gas in August. Any residence that used natural gas heat lost out because they weren't using much gas in August. I complained to the gas company and to the PSC but no one would listen. It seemed like an unfair distribution to me. Will this "one time credit" be issued fairly and evenly according to what each and every customer has paid in?

Re: “Legislature advances broadband initiative

In Van Buren county, within the city limits of Clinton I checked our internet service speed last weekend. We got .16Mbps download, upload timed out. This was through Artelco DSL, they still offer Dial-Up service also if you have all day to wait for a webpage to load.
