Re: “Judge invalidates state's criminal eviction statute

The better analogy @ledhead830!? Are you folks really so liberal that you have forgotten personal responsibility? Actions and consequences? Not paying what you owe somebody is ABSOLUTELY a criminal mater @zetzertzak. When you do not pay what you have agreed to pay you have STOLEN the agreed to product or service.

Oh, you entitled masses; when will you all grow up and realize that your math is flawed. For those of you too slow to understand the basic equations of life let me point it out thus:

Every time you get something for nothing somebody else gets nothing or having done something.

I am curious @Silverback66, what would you call it if I walked through Wal-mart and popped open a coke, made myself a sandwich and perhaps grabbed an apple and munched on it? So is that "breach of contract", "running a tab" or just plain STEALING? By your logic Wal-mart sould file a claim in the courts and sue me for "lunch without loot".

Now, read that carefully. Is that fair? Really?

Re: “Judge invalidates state's criminal eviction statute

I am a landlord. I find this appalling. First off, the taxpayers do not come out of pocket to pay for MY evictions like that litigator would have everybody believe. Not only do non paying tenants cost me money in the courts, all the while not receiving rent from a deadbeat who stays in MY asset, I have to pay the sheriff to do the actual eviction, plus pay a bond called a double indemnity so that if the tenant sues the sheriff, then he is covered. This is BS.

Can you get free groceries at Wal-mart? NO.
How about free gas at Valero? NO.
How about a free phone or free utilities? ....like...duh...NO!

So why should I, the landlord have to provide free housing?

Here is another way to look at it. Say I own a liquor store. A guy comes in and robs me. He tells the judge, "well yer honor...I just didn't have enough money this month". Just a guess boys and girls but I think the judge will put him in jail. Whats the difference between that and the same guy not paying my rent. Oh, well, that was a public place...you are a private landlord. Now wait a second guys and gals, if I OWN the liquor store the justice system will help me put a crook away for acting irresponsibly but if I OWN a house the justice system won't? Seems to me stealing is stealing.

Re: “Suffer the renters

I own homes. I rent those homes. When a renter does not pay, then I go without money for MY bills which include MY food for MY family.

And by the way, I am the one taking the risk with the 50k, 75k, 100k or more I have in a home. What does the renter have at risk? Most of my renters are very good hard working folks, but they do not have a pot to piss in so they would not be worth suing if they DID tear up the property or not pay. Like grandma said, "you can't squeeze blood from a turnip".

Nobody gets to walk out of Wal-mart without paying for groceries...its a crime to take them without paying. Nobody gets to get gas for their car and not pay for it; in fact, they will not only get you for stealing the gas, they will take your license. If you do not pay your utilities or your phone you will find yourself with no communication device and no hot water. Why should a house be different?

NOBODY gets a house for free. Be a responsible adult and pay your bills or live on the streets. Heck, Maybe if we had a debtor prison where people had to WORK and create money to get out we would have better, more responsible, more productive citizens.

Re: “The roots of Little Rock's segregated neighborhoods

I am not from the south. I am an Italian from California. Needless to say I could care less about all you southerners lousy attitudes about each others "color". To be honest, white or black, all of "y'all" make yourselves weak with your petty arguing and intolerance and bigotry, and quite frankly, people like me...guess you might call me a carpetbagger, will always capitalize on your stupidity that way and make a pile of money while "y'all worry about each others melatonin levels.

You want to change the way little rock or any other place in America looks? Here is how you do it...

Anybody remember the commercial from the 70's with the Indian with the tear in his eyes after looking at everybody dumping trash on the side of the road? That commercial and other things like it made littering so completely "uncool" that people basically stopped doing it.

No legislation, media attention, or whining from any subculture, black, white, purple or pink stops people from liking or disliking each other. People have to see that it is their best interests to cooperate.

When bigotry becomes that uncool, these problems will stop too. When you argue about it, you make it cool. When you "pull the race card" you make it cool. When you use the word Ni$$a" in music, you make it cool. When you bus kids out of their own neighborhoods, and get them home after dark on a school night just to prove some stupid racial point , you make it cool. When you even recognize a difference in color, you make it cool.

Quit making it cool.
