Re: “Lawmakers target cold medicine

Pseudoephedrine can only be purchased at a pharmacy, and must be dispensed by either a pharmacist or a technician. Hence, there will be no truckers out of luck at a truck stop anywhere in the United States.

There is another decongestant on the market - but people have been unwilling to give it a try.

Hang around any pharmacy in Arkansas about an hour before they close (or a 24 hour pharmacy) and you will see what the pharmacists in this state have to deal with. These people purchasing pseudoephedrine are not from out of state and are not big time makers - they are making it for themselves and their buddies who helped pull in all of the ingredients. They are making it in your neighborhood, around their children.

Somehow, we must make it so that it is more difficult to obtain - because the current system is just not working. Unfortunately, some will be inconvenienced, but pseudoephedine is not the only decongestant on the market that will help cold sufferers.
