Re: “Ex-ADEQ chief faces pollution reports

For a Republican of the present (mostly intellectually bankrupt) era for the GOP, Huckabee's views on the environment are quite decent.

He places great emphasis on conservation and on protecting the planet for our future generations. Grist did an interview and a fact-sheet on Huckabee re. the environment:

Based on what I've read and heard, I'd give Huckabee an A- to A on a Republican scale for the environment.

This post is yet another pathetic and disingenuous guilt-by-association smear job by our friend Max Brantley here.

Re: “Who was rescued by taxpayers' Yarnell bailouts?

Hi Max, I think it's high time for you to bring your relentless anti-Huckabee Jihad to an end. Hasn't it gone on long enough? Does your anti-Huckabee crusade have anything to do with the fact that Huckabee supports traditional marriage and does not endorse gay lifestyles (what do you expect? He's a social conservative.)? If so, you should be forthright enough to come out and say so, write a post about it and leave it at that, instead of perpetually throwing whatever you can find at the guy in an apparent effort to destroy his political career.

The fact is that, for a Republican of this era, Huckabee was a pretty darn good governor who genuinely cared for poor and working class Arkansans. With his extensive education reforms, his initiative on ARKids healthcare program for poor kids, his support for the minimum wage, his decision to support in-county tuition for children of illegal migrants, and maintaining strong race relations, etc, Huckabee has more than distinguished himself as a genuinely caring public servant. AR's economy also did quite well under Huckabee. And, if he ran again for President and went on to win, judging from his AR governance and his 2008 campaign stands, I think he'd make a far better President than Obama (who proved to be such an incredible disappointment to so many of his ardent supporters in 2008), or just about anyone that the GOP can offer in the currently prevailing radical conservative climate, on vital issues such as fixing the economy and making it work for all Americans, confronting China on its unfair trade practices that are severely damaging our economy, cutting down national debt, etc.

Please think about it.
