Re: “Weiner's gimmick to counteract school consolidation

Everyone should look at the overall population of Weiner. Many years ago the Catholic church, St. Anthony's, was a good size thriving church. It is now, and has been for years, a mission church due to it's parish size. What happened to all the big Catholic farm families -

Re: “How do you feel about a Ruth's Chris on Robinson plaza?

OR developers, how about the empty lot at the I-30--Roosevelt exit east of I-30? Easy access to on and off the interstate, to the downtown LR area and wherever else someone needs to drive.

Re: “Walton-funded group has early word on state Board of Education appointment

Maybe Zook was the best one in the group the Governor had to pick from too!

FACT -- Dr. Naccaman Williams was on the ADE State Board of Education for many years. He was also employed by the Walton Foundation. Dr. Williams denied charter schools while he served on this board and did not show one iota of favoritism.

HB1528, An Act to Designate the Department of Education as the Primary Charter School Authorizer; and For Other Purposes, was passed by both the House and Senate during the 2013 Regular Legislative Session (now Act 509). The only way the State Board of Education will be involved in charter schools will be if the charter school applicant appeals the ADE denial decision and then it goes before the State Board of Education. If you are really interested you could read Act 509.

There have been way more charter school denials than approvals over the years.

Re: “Capitol Zoning Commission rejects change in fence height rule

In this particular yard I have noticed that there is a large fenced off portion in the area next to the house, front yard, south of the house. There is a cover of privet hedge in front of this fenced area and really isn't very noticeable, UNLESS the gate is spotted. Maybe he should put up a taller fence in green chainlink (disappears), let the privet hedge grow taller and call it day. Mr. Holmstrom can take his dog to the downtown dog park -it's very nice!
