Re: “Tom Cotton to gays: Get perspective. At least they don't hang you

Jack Wagoner's comment: I cannot wait for the day when this clown gets caught with the wide stance in the airport restroom. Mark my words. The day will come.

Re: “Hester files promised pro-gay-discrimination bill UPDATE

HRC does nothing worthwhile but try to grab headlines. They didn't help out at all with either of the same-sex marriage cases. But as soon as Judge Piazza issued his ruling they rushed into town holding press conferences and such. These guys make me shake my head.

Re: “Changed Arkansas Supreme Court to hear marriage case

I don't necessarily agree with the legal analysis here. The vote was taken and the case was decided. It is hard for me to fathom that a result in such a significant case would be decided through political machinations. I will not believe that the law dictates the procedure indicated here or that it will go down this way until I see it.

Re: “Jack Wagoner fights for equality

Oliphart, I would have as much Dylan in my music collection as Garcia and the Grateful Dead. There just isn't near as much of it to be had. I've seen him 15-20 times. The Garcia picture was a gift from a client who painted it himself. If someone gave me a Dylan picture it would definitely go up on the wall too. :)

Re: “Lawyer offers free help to gay couple seeking Arkansas marriage license

AOXOMOXOA huh? That's the name of a Grateful Dead album so maybe we have something in common. Please understand that I have not trashed the ACLU. I invited them to join the appeal in the Moix case after I had already tried the case in the trial court. And I was happy to have them. I was going to do the appeal with no charge to the client with our without them. I support the ACLU, but that doesn't mean I agree with them on everything. As for your comment about pro bono civil liberties litigation, last time I looked all the ACLU lawyers were getting paid for their work. I am not and am quite willing to work for free for a cause I support. So your comments are a little strong when you consider that.

Re: “Judicial races begin

Mike will make an excellent choice for judge. I have practiced law in countless cases with him on the other side for the last 23 years. I have yet to make him mad despite my best efforts towards that end. He is unflappable. He knows the law well, but just as important he will treat the people that are in his court--both lawyers and litigants--with courtesy and kindness. He's just that way. They call it "judicial temperament" and he has it. I have never heard a lawyer say anything bad about Mike. And that is something that is hard to come by in this profession.

Re: “BREAKING: KARK's Cummins questioned in Labor Day death

How come all these people want to turn the blog on this story into a debate on religion? That's bizarre. It makes me feel the same way that I felt in reading the Times cover story last week. That is, no matter how they believe or don't believe, the majority of the people want to try to foist their beliefs on everyone else. Why? Believe whatever you want, but please don't make me have to filter through all your bullshit debates about it every time I turn around.
