Re: “Farewell to a school teacher, Susan Turner Purvis

I had the brief pleasure of getting to know Susan this past weekend in Taos. She had brought along pictures of her "children" that she'd taught over the years and created a beautiful book in tribute to the lives that she'd touched and those lives that had touched her. She spoke with such enthusiasm and love for her students and her family. I was touched by her sense of humor and sense of wonder. I think it's fair to say that all of us who attended the workshop with Susan, were devastated to hear that she'd suffered a stroke on her way home. Somehow, there is peace in knowing that she had just spent a very wonderful, peaceful weekend spent creating art and doing what she loved most. May her family find peace and strength in coping with their loss.
