Re: “Charters not a choice for all

The title of this piece is correct, charters are not a choice for all. But they should be a choice. It doesn't take much for a parent/guardian to "navigate" our application process. They go to our website, click the "apply" button and answer a few questions. Parents do have to provide transportation, or if they live near a bus stop, their child can get a bus pass to ride the city bus. We follow the Federal Child Nutrition guidelines, so our students are fed a nutritious breakfast and lunch daily. We have two school nurses and three counselors. We also have special education, OT/PT and speech. I am a product of LRSD and my children attended LRSD until eStem came along. I am so very thankful that we had a choice!
