Re: “County clerks discuss headaches of marriage order: most seem likely to resist issuing licenses Monday

It was not Crazy. The first Clerk, Lana Gordon arrived at the courthouse on Saturday, May 10 at 855am. Five minutes before the office was to open.

She opened the office and then flat out refused to issue any licenses. She then proceeded to SLAM the door to the clerks office and then she called the police. There was not a protest and everyone stood in line. Lana stated, and it is on video that She did not know if the ruling was legal, or if she could, she didn't have her bosses number and several more excuses.

Once we all were told to leave the courthouse, we did. Everyone left in a cordial manner.

THANK GOD for Mrs. Jane Osborn, who re-opened the office and issued several licenses that morning.

My NEW husband and I were the forth couple to be granted a license in Carroll County that day and are the second Male couple Married on May 10th in Arkansas. Our License was also filed that day and is on the books.

The County law that the District Attorney, Tony Roberts is pushing is very discriminatory, since it does not allow Clerks to issue license. The Ban on same sex marriage was over turned in Arkansas, making the Carroll County law invalid and discriminatory.
