Re: “Razorbacks plan a return to real grass in 2019

Grass is the Pinnacle. Should be required for S.E.C participation. The S.E.C. is the Pinnacle. Turf may be acceptable in harsh climates such as Buffalo or Minneapolis. But S.E.C. cities aren't close to those climes! When I see turf in the south, it symbolizes a low budget program.

Re: “A stadium. A park. A plan? War Memorial

I am from El Dorado and grew up going to Razorback games at War Memorial. In those days, the Hogs played four games per year in Little Rock. Season tickets were reasonably priced. We never missed a game. This was in the early seventies. We would make it up to Fayetteville, usually once a year. Hwy 167 was two lane. I-40 wasn't complete. Hwy 71 was beautiful but treacherous. Almost fifty years later, we have a different state. El Dorado's population has dropped to 18,000. In 1970 it exceeded 26,000. Washington and Benton counties had less than 100,000 population combined in 1970. Today, they stand at 525,000. Oh yes! Razorback Stadium sat 42,000 in 1970. This fall there will be 76,800 seats! War Memorial then and now seats 53,727. Even playing one game, every other year will cost the University $5,000,000! Without question, Fayetteville is a long haul for people who live in El Dorado, Texarkana, Lake Village and West Memphis! And War Memorial is a pretty park that should be maintained! But not at the University's expense! I would love to see the state and the university join together in a "Razortrain" venture. In short, utilizing our rail system to transport fans from all corners of the state to Razorback Stadium. This could be done for surprisingly small dollars and would be affordable for all Hog fans! These train rides would be fun; comparable to a tailgate party! No worries about driving and parking. I do think that War Memorial should be utilized for college football. Little Rock would be the perfect neutral site for an annual game(during state fair week ideally) pitting Arkansas State against Louisiana Tech. I would love to see UAPB and Grambling play at War Memorial every year. UCA could play two games there every year. I always supported a bowl game at War Memorial. In short, War Memorial isn't the worst stadium in America. It's simply that the Razorback have outgrown it.

Re: “Kane Webb to lead Arkansas Parks and Tourism

Fitting that a Little Rock guy would favor compromising the University of Arkansas football program, in favor of continued use of that dilapidated old stadium. Hutchinson is easier to fathom. With Asa, it's about votes! Nobody is really thinking about economics, recruiting or winning the S.E.C.

Re: “Arkansas Razorback 2017 football review, part 3

A win over Auburn would be huge.

Re: “Arkansas Razorback 2017 football review, part 1

I like Wilcox's optimism! But the Hogs should be 3-0 at this juncture. T.C.U. will be better than last year. Gary Patterson will have the Horned Frogs ready with an improved defense. But those two extra days will help the Hogs. So will that early tune-up game with Florida A & M. The overall schedule is rigorous. A 3-0 start is almost a "must" for Arkansas. But, I do like our chances.

Re: “UA pushes ahead on Razorback stadium expansion; Pryor has questions

I can certainly understand Senator Pryor inquiring about specifics. BUT, Football fundraising is not exactly his specialty!

Re: “Pearls About Swine: Hog bowl victory prelude to new era

Any win over the Longhorns is worth a celebration! 2015 does look promising. But it may be due to the overall conference slippage. LSU has great athletes. But their quarterback issue must be solved. Ole Miss must replace Bo Wallace. Mississippi State will drop off slightly. Tennessee will be good. But trading Georgia for them is a plus. Alabama doesn't rebuild. They reload. Still, two straight Sugar Bowl losses suggest the program has peaked under Saban. I like Hog's chances against Auburn and Missouri.
