Re: “Arkansas's ban of the natural painkiller Kratom has left sufferers and former opiate addicts in the lurch

I am an addict in recovery and I am not sure why no one is being honest about this substance. It does cause a high of Euphoria and it is abused by people. Back when this was legal last year people would be lining up at Sidneys Emporium everyday at 11am to buy this stuff. Myself included. I started taking Kratom to help curve withdrawals from opiates that I was using intravenously. Yes it totally helped and it was great however I found myself with a Kratom habit shortly after. Now I started out taking the powder that is the least potent least expensive. Well I was having to take more and more to get the same high I got before. Because I am an addict and that is what we do. So the guy who I got it from said "here try this strain" it turned out to be ultra enhance indo (UEI) and off we went. Only a small amount and I felt like I had taken pain meds that I loved so dearly but hey this stuff is legal for ME to take so it's all good right? hahaha.... no way. So this shit cost as much as pills do if not more and it raises your tolerance quickly. So I would drive from Bentonville to Fayetteville every morning to buy my $60 a day bag. If I did not take this withdrawals were AWFUL. Ill name mine off for you: Diarrhea, Depression, Restless Leg Syndrome, Can't eat can't sleep. All I wanted to do was to get more Kratom and hey it's legal so it is so much easier to go the route of getting it as opposed to pain pills. So finally finally thank GOD some events happened and I decided to get clean and sober from EVERYTHING spent 2 months in jail and then off to treatment for the 7th time. I will be celebrating my 1 year in 6 days and thank god for it. Thank GOD they banned this stuff in FEB or I would have been back in a bad way. Because it is mood altering because it does change the way I feel and yes it does get you high. It doesn't matter if it works for some people for their pain, it can cause addicts and kids and other groups of people many many problems and that is why it is illegal. They know it is a mood/mind altering substance and that there are physical withdrawals. I'm almost 100% positive that this is not some crazy scheme to put more money to Big Pharma, trust me that money will always be there. Just like pot this needed to be banned. Indefinitely. . But this is my opinion and I say well done Arkansas and following states. Go get yourselves some physical therapy and some real "natural" healing. Unfortunately people will always have to suffer from other people actions. That is just the way of the world. Boop Boop
