Re: “Reports: Judge's son in Hot Springs death

vanessa, The post by Eddie Lee does not however say that there is a list a mile long of those. . .
"They are facing death penalties being denied bail and so on i'm sorry but these people lacked intent also." The mile long reference was to the number of cases of this tragedy, NOT whatever punishment if ANY. Olphart distorted the post to make the comment that included both. It must have " felt good, rolling off the tongue", to do so. It is a fact that one only need google "baby in hot car" to see the large number of cases. The statement by Eddie Lee regarding people on death row, is indeed not true.

Re: “Reports: Judge's son in Hot Springs death

Get real olphart, Eddie Lee stated, and I quote via cut and paste. . . "but if you google this story you get a mile long list of other people who have done this", not who are on death row, but who have left their child in the car. And the facts are not my own, but reported incidents. Reread Eddie Lee's post, and don't twist it to suit you. Please, just admit you made a mistake and don't try to twist things in your favor by saying that the facts were invented. It looks bad for your character.

One more comment. . .
As completely devastated as I and my community feel, we do realize that it is only a fraction of what the judge is feeling. We are all so sorry about the entire tragedy.

Re: “Reports: Judge's son in Hot Springs death

Before commenting Olphart, you should check your facts. Yes the list is over 50 in the past 2 yrs. Not a mile long?? For those of you defending this person as busy, distracted, overworked or whatever, I am shocked. That is not a pass for forgetting your baby. I do feel devastated for the father, but he did it, of course he is being punished by his actions, as he should be, but it is not enough. Four hours without noticing his toddler was missing?? I advocate for the child, and the children who had no choice but to depend on the adults in their lives to care for them. This is about the CHILD, who suffered horribly and died.
Also in other cases we have heard details about what the parent was doing while the child was in the car, quickly after the story broke, but not yet in this one. I agree with some other comments that if this had been some "nobody" person, the police would have released this information. I certainly hope the Hot Springs police are protecting one of their own, like in decades past.

Nice people make mistakes too. That doesn't mean they should be able to evade responsibility. The laws should apply equally, and people please remember a precious baby relied on that individual to keep them safe, and died a horrific death when that person accidentally neglected to do so. I don't think there will be charges in this case.

Re: “Reports: Judge's son in Hot Springs death

what are you doing for 4 hrs in an air conditioned house that so consumes you that you don't miss your two year old. Unbelievable, sickening, this enrages me. Negligence in highest degree. Yes he is sick about it. . . will be for life, but nevertheless responsible, and should pay with more than shame.
