Re: “Medical marijuana backers respond to governor's 'reefer madness'

One of the MD's commented that there have been an increase in auto accidents where "marijuana" was found in the blood. He failed to include that THC stays detectable in a blood test long after the effects are gone, or that many of the drivers also had alcohol in their systems. Why didn't he mention auto accidents from the driver being on prescription opioids? Of COURSE no one is advocating driving under the influence of ANY substance. Additionally, these guys also seem to think that smoking cannabis is the only way for patients to ingest it. Ignorance was truly on display at this news conference.

Re: “They may take our lives, but they will never take our Cabernet

The pilot "tax by the mile driven" Bill (HB1716, I think) would deserve a mention as a dumb idea.

Re: “Lawyer vows lawsuit on unemployment drug testing bill

In order to qualify for weekly unemployment payments, the claimant must certify under penalty of fraud that they did not refuse to submit to a pre-employment drug screening, if they were refused employment because of a failure on a drug test, and that they were available for work each day of the week being claimed. While I believe that any person who is "available for work" must by definition be drug free, since most employers now require pre-employment screening, I don't see any reason to require state mandated and monitored random drug testing, as it is already being addressed in the certification one attests to when claiming benefits. Seems redundant.
