Labor Day was born in a day when the Marxist mindset of class warfare was much stronger than today. Implicit in the concept of Labor Day is the idea that physical labor is the source of value and that investors and company executives somehow exist parasitically on the efforts of those employees doing physical labor. This is a false and antiquated idea, so it is not too surprising that it gets little press nowadays. Good riddance I say.
