Re: “Dixie's Defenders and the scrapheap of history

People have a right to preserve their history and heritage, even those who are not the supremacists. You keep stoking the fire rather than let the issue cool down without a lot of hype and there is going to be bloodshed in Arkansas over some fools trying to take down a statute with other fools having to defend it because the police will be wanting to avoid being involved in the confrontation. What I am curious about is why was a Confederate battle flag still flying in Hot Springs. I believe both sides conceded on that issue, or at a least a decision was made it was not appropriate while the Stars and Bars are. I have never flown the Confederate flag outside of our garage but one is going up the flag pole right beneath the American flag because displaying our heritage is my right.

Re: “Arkansas Democratic Party calls for removal of Confederate monuments from public grounds

Huge story about the Jefferson County Courthouse wounded Confederate soldier statute. African-American County Judge Hank Wilkins is quoted as saying he has no plans to remove the statute now. Then he was overheard and possibly recorded boasting to a group of supporters that he needs "whiteys votes against his white opponent but once he is reelected, he plans to melt the statute down into "Hank Coins" containing his image and pass them out to supporters.

Re: “Prison director blames breakout on inadequate fencing

Let me see if I can "splain" why DOC does not have money for important things like prison control. It is because they waste tax dollars on perks for their already overpaid executives. For example, Chief Deputy Director - Kevin Murphy who lives in Jacksonville or Cabot and works in Pine Bluff has driven a free DOC sedan for over 15 years, round trip every day, five days a week, accruing about 32,000 miles a year figuring working 50 weeks. That's about $3,500 in fuel a year not to mention oil changes and tires. Before becoming chief deputy dawg, Murphy was personnel director. Steve Strahan DOC Sales Manager works less than five miles from home yet for the last 25 years he has parked a DOC van or SUV in his driveway. He was previously in procurement or supply. Every warden and some of the wives if they live on the grounds, and others mainly on the director's staff who are adequately compensated have their own personal DOC provided auto at our expense, and these are not clunkers. I know this because our daughter worked in the same building and eventually became fed up with the executives feeding at the tax payers expense while her husband and other correctional officers faced unnecessary danger every day because of funding constraints.

Re: “Confederate monuments: So far they seem safe in Arkansas

If history is going to be rewritten, why stop with just Confederate monuments? Rename all of the JFK streets in the country because he was an adulterer. And certainly all MLK streets and remove his statutes for the same reason. The Nazi's burnt books to remove history. The tearing down of a part of history representing ancestors of many Americans is wrong.

Re: “Even Arkansas opposes Trump's ban on transgender in military. Also, props to the IRS

Corrected copy:
Hi Sarah

Thanks for much for your message and your inquiry.

You raise an important question and the best advice I can give you is "go back in the closet". And please keep our safety policy in mind and don't let the door hit you in the ass.

Re: “Susan Inman to try again for secretary of state

Susan Inman has accumulated a lot of negative baggage since her last run for this office. She would do better taking up race car driving.

Re: “Grappling with Little Rock violence means grappling with race

The black population would be doing a lot better without the likes of Joyce Elliot, Linda Chesterfield, Wendell Griffen, John Walker and others who profit at their expense by keeping them on the defensive. We count among our friends and coworkers uncounted black citizens who are self sufficient, educated, who live a lot better than we do, and deservedly are proud people. Their children will also be successful.
