I'm only 31, still quite a young lesbian by some standards. Born in 1986, I obviously don't have any recollection of the early days of AIDS. I didn't even know it was originally called GRID. I love our community's history and that of our steadfast allies. Reading this article moved me to tears. I think of all the lost lives we'll never know, the talent, the intelligence, the compassion, the kindness, the humor that was lost to such a deadly, misunderstood illness. We must continue to be kind to each other, and to treat each other with love and dignity. Ruth Coker Burks, you have made quite an impact, and you continue to do so with every new person who reads/hears your story. <3
