As a layman, allowing anyone to operate or function without a legal up-to-date license opens a huge can of worms. If I don't pay my liquor license, I cannot even open my doors until it is paid. I don't have any due process in the matter; I either follow the rules or I cannot have the privileges afforded me by keeping up my end of the bargain - paying the license when it is due and not allowing it to lapse. Are judges above the law and not subject the same laws and penalties as the rest of us?
