Re: “Stop the bullying: An Iowa newspaper speaks

I wonder if the Democrat-Gazette would do something like this? Probably depend if David O' Dodd was ever bullied....

Re: “North Little Rock Mayor Pat Hays to retire

I grew up in NLR and still live here now. I've always voted for Mayor Hays (especially in the last election, when the competition was a guy named Bubba. Seriously, who wants to have a mayor named Bubba?). And I'd vote for him again if he ran next year.

Re: “The Facebook push for 'signature' Broadway Bridge

Apparently I'm just a lazy socialist liberal, but I would be more than happy to pay a few more cents in taxes in order to get a really unique and iconic bridge built here. If the current Broadway Bridge is deficient and must be replaced, why not make it look nice?

Now I know that Little Rock is used to tearing down old things and not doing anything with land - see the empty blocks of fenced-off land along Main Street that has lingered for years. But surely, we as the citizens of this fair community can demand that we have something nice built here with our tax dollars. Something that can make you proud to be from here, and to point out to people from out of town.

Most people from here care about the future of central Arkansas. Why not invest in what will really be an insignificant amount in taxes if it results in something that really stands out that future generations can be proud of?

Re: “Two Rivers Bridge set to open

I'm looking forward to going out onto the bridge and getting a nice view of Pinnacle Mountain and the sunset. So I guess that makes me a communist/socialist/gay for taking advantage of something the government put in place for me?

Re: “Europe fights the automobile

Actually, if Judge Doom didn't have his way when he shut down the LR trolleys in favor of freeways and busses, then we all would be in better shape! And plus, the Little Rock Toon Town would still be around. But, alas...

In all seriousness. My apartment is in a suburb (Maumelle), and my office is in a building in another far-flung suburb (west Little Rock, off of Chenal). I would love to be able to take a direct trolley or subway to work everyday, instead of driving 20 miles or so in my car. But buses don't even make it out there. If some sort of reliable public transport was available, I would gladly take it. It's sad that we can't design anything like this in our capital city.
