Re: “Arkansas Supreme Court expedites same-sex marriage case

It is your blog. How about you protect the integrity of it by correcting the post?

Re: “Arkansas Supreme Court expedites same-sex marriage case

Max – before you begin speculating on why Justice Hart would have denied the expedited petition in this case, please understand how the appointment system works in the judicial system. Because it is obvious that you are ignorant on this topic, let me advise. Because the Governor has appointed a Special Justice, that Special Justice will have to stay on the case for its entirety – even after Justice Wood and Justice Wynne join the Court. In this case, the Special Justice was appointed to fill Justice Hoofman’s position, which is soon-to-be Justice Wood’s position. Thus, Justice Wood will not participate in this case, even after she joins the Court. In light of the foregoing, your “educated” speculation that Justice Hart would have denied this petition in order to allow time for the new members of the Court to hear the case is completely unfounded, and quite frankly, makes you look like a fool.

Before you start opining on any legal issue, I suggest that you should do some homework on the appointment process in the Arkansas judicial system. Presumably, you could ask your wife, Judge Ellen Brantley, unless she seals her legal knowledge from you as she does the divorces from the public in Faulkner County. Because your ignorance of most legal issues is becoming more obvious the more you write about them, maybe you should consider swallowing your pride in asking a fellow lawyer to proofread your work before you and your blog loses total respect from the public.

Re: “Open line: today's video roundup

Steve, seems to me you are evading the call from Stacy. You are busy etc., but you sure to have time to spout off on this thread about the whole ordeal. Do you live in LR?

Clarke brought the kid into the race on the mailer he sent out. Why can you not see that? You are blind to facts. Facts hurt. Especially when you want them to go the other way.

Re: “About those emails Republicans FOI'd in the Stacy Hurst-Clarke Tucker race

Two more things: according to the third FOIA request in article, the Tucker's were offered 114 spots at 12 different PRE-ks in LR on May 2nd. A few months before the mailer in mid august.
Also, no one FOIAd the 4 year old son. This has to do with the parents and grandparents. 4 year olds don't have emails.

Re: “About those emails Republicans FOI'd in the Stacy Hurst-Clarke Tucker race

Clarke Tucker's main issue for this seat is Pre-k for all. His son was offered a seat at plenty of public pre-k programs in LR, as you can see from the FOIA emails. His wife Toni turns down Fair park in August, and won't consider Brady because it is not up to their affluent standards. The Tucker's are wealthy. They live right by Stacy Hurst.
Clarke used his son in the ad for a political gain and it backfired. He tries to cover it up, by getting ahead of story, and instead has a bunch of egg on his face. This is not a hurst campaign issue. It is a lie that the Tucker's tried to get all of the 10k recipients of the mailer to believe. If you still support a candidate that handles an issue like this...good luck.

Re: “Little Rock: Where the gold rules and just about everybody is connected

This story is a completely flawed rambling mess. It is impossible to find the exact point of the piece. If you are going to state the race of the board of directors, which is pretty bizarre, please show their political affiliation as well. Anyway…in the article Stacy Hurst is blamed for the building of the gas station, although she is one of ten on the LR Board of directors. Not to mention that the Democratic Mayor cast the tie breaking vote for the development of the gas station. Next, you are trying to fault Murphy/Deltic timber for their investment in the 80’s, on timber land in west LR. This was at the same time when the LR planning and highway commission could not see to develop past Shackleford road headed toward the west. The evidence that points to this is that LR is just now connecting Chenal to I-630, 30years later; it must prove that the Murphy’s are soothsayers. It is great that they invested in West LR. How would they know it would be developed like it is in 2014? I also, looked at the property tax aspect that is cast in the article. Looked up Stacy Hurst property taxes on ARcountydata.com, and she pays an estimated $20,653.36 (w/homestead credit per year), so she is contributing 20x more than Ms. Powell to LR by living near the CCLR. Since you like disclosures toward the end of your articles, Clarke Tucker lives about a 9-iron from Stacy Hurst. While on this subject gold ruling LR, do you think that there is any connection with Moses-Tucker Real Estate downtown investments and the LR Tech Park? Or is that ok with you, since it benefits the part of town you think should be revitalized?
