Re: “Former Arkansas women's prison chaplain sentenced to five years in prison for sexual assault of inmates

Soulsister obviously doesn't understand the implications of professional (and spiritual) ethics here on the relative culpability of Dewitt (as a supposed minister of the gospel) and his victims. There is no such thing as "consensual" sex (in the eyes of the law or in spiritual reality) when there is a power imbalance like that between an authority figure and subordinate, which is analogous to that between parent and child in the family, teacher and student in school, commanding officer and soldier in the military, or counselor and counseled in the helping professions. Her comment also casts doubt in my mind about the P.A.L. Program cultivating anything like a true spiritual discernment in its members, but if that is the name of Gothard's prison program, this will come as no surprise to those familiar with Gothard's errors.
