Re: “Justice, Arkansas style: Discrimination continues on birth certificates

The best thing I can say about Jim A. Hall is that, upon doing a little research, he did not win the race for District 9 of the legislature(which he seems to have thought God wanted him to win), and he is not, thank goodness, in the AR legislature, which already has more than enough bigots and dunces without him adding to the total. Now, if he would just crawl back into the swamp...

Re: “Trump administration continues to dismantle environmental protection

Should the water supply for Hot Springs Village be contaminated by the pollutants, herbicides, pesticides and heavy metals of which deadseasquirrel writes, 'ol golpher will be singing a different song (and squealing to high heaven, probably blaming it on "the D-rats").

Re: “Ten Commandments monument installed, Sen. Rapert presides. Lawsuit to come

When I clicked on the 45 sec. excerpt above, all I got was a spinning wheel. Appropriate, I guess, as a symbol of how we as Arkansans are spinning our wheels, unable to stop wasting money on things like this monument and the resulting lawsuits, and focus on things that will lift us out of our eternal last place position.

Re: “Plans dropped for Muslim neighborhood in John Barrow

baker: "Keep looking" Looking for what? You are deliberately missing my point, apparently because you are just fine with religious intolerance. I give up. You are a troll and I am tired of feeding you.

Re: “Plans dropped for Muslim neighborhood in John Barrow

baker: Christians in the United States don't have the President of the United States saying things like this about their faith:

"I think Islam hates us. There's a tremendous hatred. We have to get to the bottom of it.There is an unbelievable hatred of us."--Donald Trump to Anderson Cooper, March 9, 2016. (Just google "Trump quotes on Islam" like I did)

Kindly note he did not say "Islamic extremists", he said "Islam". As if you didn't know it, there are many, Islamic Americans who just want to practice their faith and lead peaceful, law-abiding lives. Just daring to live in Arkansas, they are surrounded on all sides, often by intolerant so called "Christians". In that regard, Arkansas already is a giant Christian "segregated community", locking out anybody who isn't Christian. There's a reason some of the Muslim women I see at Target look down rather than returning my smile. That reason is fear. Arkansas has a long, shameful history of intolerance and prejudice. In the past it was aimed mostly at people of color. Now Muslim people are targets, too. Just listen to your President.

Re: “Plans dropped for Muslim neighborhood in John Barrow

The dying of this project tracks with the rise of xenophobia and the Alt-Right. With the likes of Steve Bannon roaming the halls of the White House, one can understand the hesitation of Muslims to build a community here in Trumpland, where the mottos is "We hate everybody who's not just like us (white,
evangelical and right-wing)". It is sad what so much of America has become--intolerant and selfish.
