Re: “The roots of the nursing home/judicial election scandal

This judge deserves quite a long sentence. Judges who particularly abuse the public's trust are some of the worst. This one especially seems to think highly of himself; certainly more highly than he should. He really needs to be taken down a notch or three. I hope he takes down some others, too.

Re: “Tim Griffin cashes in with 'consulting' job

I agree with one of the posters above; the LG position is useless. Like many states, the LG should run with the governor on the same ticket. And certainly the governor should not lose his authority merely becauses he crosses the borders. This is 2015,after all. We have phones, cell phones, Internet, etc. One is easily accessible. Anyone opposed to this notation is simply playing politics.

Re: “LR City Board approves Uber ordinance

Good news.

Whatever the industry, innovators have a tough hill to climb in this country. The often have to resort to arrogance and hubris in the eyes of the establishment to push their way to the table. It's unfortunate.

Consumers having more options than a few cab companies is a good thing!

Re: “Uber emergency clause poses problem for LR Board

Go Uber go!

Thankfully bookstores didn't try to get Amazon shutdown years ago as consumers learned a vast selection of books at lower prices could be provided by "spiffy technology". Good thing the US Postal Service didn't get email banned so we'd be required to use the out-dated mailbox. With autodrafts and email statements, a book of stamps lasts our house months and months!

"Spiffy" technology can be seen everywhere and the unlevel playing field it creates is fair reward for its innovators and will nearly always benefit consumers, pressure others within an industry (in this case, taxi providers) to improve, and nearly always upset someone who stands to lose something (usually money).

The taxi companies should figure out how to either add value or persuade consumers they already provide it and not run to pull on the skirt of government like small children looking for protection. Innovate! Get better! Clean your cabs! Bathe your drivers! Fix your rates! And I might use you. Until then, I'll go with the new Uber kid on the block.

Re: “Pat Hays announcement set; checking in with Republicans

Would former AG Steve Clark be eligible to run for Congress? Just thinking through potential Dems for the 3rd district, he comes to mind as someone who might be able to get a couple votes. He's got a pretty good resume...except for that credit card problem.

Re: “ICYMI: Mount St. Mary teacher's resignation letter, forced on account of her marriage

Ms. McCullough needs to get another job at a public school or a private school with that has no problem with her marital status.

By all accounts, she's a very fine teacher, and she'll find work. But, she knew the stance of the Catholic Church, and whether or not the church's policy is morally right or wrong, she chose to flout that policy. Frankly, she should have been a fired.

I have problems with a couple of my company's employment policies. Nonetheless, I abide by them. If I didn't and I were caught, I'd be prepared for the consequences.

Re: “The line is open: Robber killed, Sarah Palin riffs, Conway develops

Once the six lanes to/from are finished, Conway will be a viable living option for those that work in LR. Things seem to be booming there.
