Re: “Farewell to a school teacher, Susan Turner Purvis

Wow this is so hard for me to imagine. I remember the first day I walked the halls if Gibbs Elementary in the fourth grade Mrs Purvis was the first face that greeted me. I had the pleasure if being her student and fellow classmate of her beloved son Benjamin. I can never forget Mr Joe and the love and equal passion he had for her students as well. One of my fondest memories was Mrs Purvis taking us to the ball field. Who could forget Mr Joe's station wagon and how he spent hours giving rides to those that didn't have rides. She and Ms Grayson (our music teacher) was the best of friends and thy walked the halls and taught us well. Well now I am 35 years old 15 years in my career and I can't help but attribute some of the success to Mrs Purvis. You will be greatly missed!
