Re: “The Kingdom of Norman

I watched a lot of people come and go @ Discovery in Little Rock and Our House Lounge in Hot Springs in the early '80s and '90s. I remember when Nancy "Nurse" Dupree was crowned Miss Gay Hot Springs in the early '80s, it rocked the gay community and Charles Herrington (aka Tuna Starr) was furious with Norman Jones (he was a judge). Nancy Nurse never stopped introducing herself as Miss Hot Springs for years after that, while Tuna rolled her eyes. I saw people beautiful, vibrant, and energetic one weekend only to find out they were dead less than a month later. I saw how AIDS gripped a persons soul and body when I visited my friend, from Arkadelphia, Randal Hewitt (aka Regina "Razor-cunt" Scarlatti) in Houston, Texas in 1992. He was unrecognizable and emaciated and it left an indelible mark in my memory. None of my friends are left.
