Re: “Witch hunt at Harding?

I attended HU and am not at all surprised that this sort of thing goes on. The university absolutely incubates a "witch hunt" attitude. I heard all kinds of stories about people getting ratted out to the admin for various infractions that would look pretty innocent to the average person.

And the argument of "well if you're gay, just don't attend," doesn't hold water. Some people don't embrace the fact that they're queer right away - others have parents who will only pay for college if it's a place like HU. Google "HU Queer Press" if you haven't already.

It's this type of attitude that eventually drove me away from the religion and I've been a much happier person since.

Incidentally, since I was a good bible student, I do know how Judas died. He hung himself out of shame, which is how a lot of HU admins might feel if they knew how much pain and hardship they were inflicting on people different than them.

(I know your point was probably that the bible is contradictory on the method of Judas' death, but I'm not interested in discussing biblical'd be preaching to the choir)

Re: “Not an inviting House

I've been wondering what's going on behind the scenes at this house. We've eaten there on and off for the past two years and I've always considered their burgers to be top-notch. But lately we've noticed all the things the comments and review noted. Especially the slow service, and especially that they seemed to run out of things an AWFUL lot. And the smell of pee - or roach oils, whatever those are.

Last time was the last straw - took about an hour between ordering and food coming out, and the next day my wife has food poisoning from the veggie burger. So yeah. I think Gordon Ramsey is needed.

Re: “Pizza and a Biblical response to the gay marriage ruling

I spent a sizable portion of my life in this town and believe me it comes as no surprise. Frankly I just am wary of any pizza that tries to tell me what to do with my life.

Re: “Controversial frac sand mining comes to Arkansas

No hate, but it's "Peppersauce Alley." I know because I've walked over that rickety old railroad spur bridge to get there. :)

Re: “David Koon: At the Obama inaugural

My family moved to DC back in the double-aughts. I felt the same way as David the first time I rolled up to the Mall. I'm a sucker for architecture and I'm so used to walking around towns where the very best has been abandoned.
