Re: “Charter panel recommends revoking charter of Covenant Keepers

I can think of a couple other Walton schools in Central AR that need to be reviewed for many of the same reasons. The State allows for charters to open without clear-cut plans on curriculum, standards or operational guidance. Charters done nothing but re-segregate the desegregated.

Re: “New deal for LR Chamber of Commerce: Taxpayer money but no transparency

Thanks for the clarification Max. The "appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the city board" is the part were things get fuzzy with the LRCVB.

Re: “Another black eye for charter schools

My complaint with charter schools is that they are often stood up quickly. They are opened on the premise of offering a certain curriculum with specialties that are often neglected due to lack of staffing, funding or a well thought out plans of execution. For a particular rural area in Central Arkansas, a school was better than no school. But, a school that is stood up too quickly without the proper operational and staff support only makes the growing process that much more difficult. Lack of key student services also hinders the learning environment. All that said, over time there are always waiting lists and the Charters become like private schools and exercise their ability to dismiss and accept at will.

The LR Chamber is just an extension of local government, promoting what supports the funneling of tax dollars towards local government agendas. Sort of like the LRCVB.

Re: “Add another coffee bar downtown: Nexus

They come and they go. Only so many 11am-2pm operations can be supported by the 8am-5pm working crowd. Not enough residential in that area to support the other hours of the day for so many hopefuls.

Re: “Riverfest announces 2017 headliners

Riverfest is either an opportunity for an unknown or the equivalent of a casino tour for a has been. If it weren't' for Justin Moore being from Arkansas, he wouldn't be in the lineup.
