Re: “Anonymous Harding University students relaunch LGBTQ publication, campus security removes copies

PlainJim: There are laws against murder, rules against cheating in the classroom and regulations that prevent people from polluting the environment. They are guidelines that you follow because someone put them into place. You may not agree, but you follow or face consequences. Of course the school would not have approved the publication, but that does not excuse the publisher for not abiding by the RULES.

Re: “Anonymous Harding University students relaunch LGBTQ publication, campus security removes copies

Perplexed, thank you for proving me right when saying some on this blog would turn a blind eye to the legitimate wrong doing. I appreciate it.

I did not say that they shouldn't speak or write. I simply stated that there were steps and procedures they should follow to ensure their voices/points were heard. Rules...

Re: “Anonymous Harding University students relaunch LGBTQ publication, campus security removes copies

There's an acceptance and a policy issue here. Of course, most on this blog will choose to focus on the idea of acceptance and skip right over the fact that the publishers showed blatant disregard for processes and approval authorities. That's what's wrong with today's youth. Society has taught them that they can be whatever and do whatever without any consequence. I agree that all should be heard, but there are acceptable and unacceptable means of communication. Clearly this group is simple hell-bent on bucking the system and choosing to take the irresponsible approach to being heard.

Re: “UA Little Rock response to "racially insensitive incident" prompts discussion on campus

We're still talking about this? My thoughts remain the same:

"I suspect nothing will come out of this. There are politicos state-wide connected to both the Pi Kappa Alpha and Chi Omegas who will rein in any attempt by UALR to discipline either organization. Having been involved with fraternal organizations in the past, I can tell you that most who join are briefed about the "connections" that come with being accepted. As if teenagers need more of a reason to think they are untouchable. A template statement (crafted for every time this type of thing happens across the country) from each national headquarters and it will go away."

Re: “Governor proposes more spending on charter schools and school vouchers

Did we all not just see a local charter school in the news for bullying and being understaffed? Charters are nothing more than re-segregation. they are launched prematurely and do not provide the services necessary to for all students i.e. special education, self-contained options and counseling.

Re: “The suburban Little Rock police force. Most take-home cars head out of town, driven by white officers

Black, white, pink, purple - who the heck wants to live in the middle of people they have arrested or will likely arrest? Can't blame officers for wanting to live away from their assigned areas. Doesn't explain the disparity in black vs white drive home units, but still can't blame officers for not wanting to live where they police.
