Re: “Caution: Mental health services on the chopping block

This is getting very little news coverage that I can see. Maybe I just missed it, but I haven't heard anything in awhile on the TV news about this. Mental health providers that are on the front lines addressing mental health issues aren't being interviewed for the potential unintended consequences of such a move, families with children/adolescents that receive benefit from these services that are on the chopping block aren't being interviewed. The governor has held summits on foster care and services for people being released from prison, sadly the majority of individuals from these systems need the necessary help that come from mental health services (including group therapy, collateral intervention, and intervention services), due in part to the multiple traumas they have experienced. Noting that I have seen has directly addressed the ACES Study that linked health problems to trauma. This was a huge study conducted several years ago. Greater attention is needed on stewardship of serivces (in my opinion).
