Re: “New DNA tests exclude West Memphis 3

Viper, in Time's defense I did just read a bunch of his hospital record that do highlight a history of alleged violent behavior. But the behavior still does not prove the murders! We do not convict people based on our perception of them, we convict based on evidence directly related to the case. Otherwise the next time any crime is committed we should go ahead and immediately arrest any troubled teenagers and bully a mentally challenged one for twelve hours until he confesses!

Furthermore Altheimer, I would argue that your vision is actually skewed and biased BECAUSE you were presumably around long enough to remember the trials, as you put the it. So, the hype and fear surrounding these three teenagers likely affects you in a way it does not affect someone who can look objectively at the evidence nearly two decades later. The confession, the bragging, etc - you really need to take another look at all of that with your perception of the case removed.

Time to Run, please provide the documentation of which you speak. You are merely quoting Echols while saying that these quotes contradict other "documented" information that you don't provide.

I also don't really care if he was a self-identified Wiccan (which actually is very peaceful) or even if, as a troubled teen like so many, he identified with Satanism. It doesn't make him a killer, and you can't convict three teenagers with NO physical evidence be cause you find their angsty teenage religious affiliations repugnant.

If we live in a society where people are convicted purely based on people's reactions to their religion or mental health and NOT on evidence, then we have taken a huge step back and should be ashamed.

Altheimer, I'm not sure what you mean by "friends" testifying that they bragged - from what I have read, one woman testified that while at a Wiccan gathering, she heard Echols bragging about it. She later said this was untrue and that she was coerced by police to say this. She also could not provide any other details about this gathering. Misskelley also was a border-line mentally disabled teenager who was bullied endlessly until confessing.
