Re: “Little Rock officer injured in hit-and-run UPDATE

What saddens me most about this article is dim lit light the media has casted on this young man. As an alumna of Philander Smith College and a classmate/friend of the 25 year old victim this slanderous connotation does not surprise me. We live in a world where if the victim is of colored skin all rules and procedures are thrown out the window. For those of you who THINK you may know the 25 year year old victim, you dont. He is one of the most selfless, intelligent and admirable people I know. To suggest disorderly conduct or non compliance is a definite stretch. I too believe, like many others, that the police officers intention wasnt to arrest him, but only to separate him from other party goers to talk with him. I cant imagine anything escalating after that. The 25 year old victim is just that, a victim, who now has to show up for a court appearance to appeal what exactly? Having a good time at Homecoming? Hasnt he been through enough? The police department as since found the unruly driver of this incident and it lacked his Race, D.O.B. and mental state while driving. (Coincidence? I think not.) But what they did highlight was that he was viewed as a role model to many, "He was the first person to ever answer his phone when you needed him. Even as a victim we have to work 10x harder to be seen as a non threat. This 25 year old victim fought for injustice before and this will only add fuel to the fire! #IStandWithYou
