Re: “Permit request withdrawn for LGBTQ homeless transitional housing after nonprofit receives threatening letter

First off, the fact that the writer of this email states they have experience running a shelter does not make them an expert unless they have run a LGBTQ shelter. That is an apples and oranges argument and an invalid point.
Secondly, the fact that they state, due to their alledged experience with a shelter in Houston, they know what disclosing this location would do to Lucie's and then using that knowledge as a threat against Lucie's is nothing more than vile hatred. It is reflective of the intentional abuse and mistreatment of the potential young lives this facility could be helping and aiding. That would all weigh on their shoulders and would warrant criminal or legal action against them. Wondered if they thought that through.
Thirdly, this person states they have polled all the houses within 500ft of theirs and they are ALL in agreeance to oppose this facility. If they are only speaking of the homes within this distance via street access (which, mind you is 0.1 mile) that encompasses the approximately 30 homes that make up Harmon Drive. That one small street compared to the size of the Leawood addition in general is a crumb at the end of a bagged loaf of bread.
The scare tactics although vicious, are not that impressive. If anything, they reflect what a horribly judgemental and evil person this is and it also reflects poorly of their knowledge and alledged involvement with this unnamed shelter in Houston.
Thanks to this one person's ignorance and lack of information, a great and purposeful tool in making young LGBTQ lives liveable will not happen.
On an aside, they must not have any idea the number of LGBT adults living around them. Mississippi and the neighborhoods bordering are LGBT AF.
