Re: “HB1228 heads to the governor's desk; what's next?

All the liberals on this page talking about Arkansas "moving backward" —
Have you guys read this bill? I bet you haven't because you think it will allow for discrimination against the LGBT community. The bill doesn't even mention the word homosexual, and there is no language in there that can be interpreted as discriminatory. Another myth is that this bill extends down to the individual level. The Indiana bill may, but not this bill.

What this simply does is protect religious people (Evangelicals, even other Christians, Muslims, Orthodox Jews, etc) from city or county laws which may get said person suited for refusing to do something that is against their religious beliefs. How can you ever expect someone who believes that homosexuality is a sin to be FORCED to bake a cake that says "Bob and Joe" on it... What if you forced a Jehovahs' Witness to swear allegiance? Oh wait. You cannot. It violates their sincerely held religious beliefs.

Under a city or county law that could be passed without this state bill (such as the repealed Ordinance 119 in Fayetteville), if a religious cake baker, for example, provides services to gay people almost always but refuses to be an accessory to the wedding, which they see as wrong, they can get a complaint filed leading to a fine, and their business license revoked. Their livelihood can be destroyed because of what they believe.

This has to be passed because increasingly liberals care less and less and less about religious beliefs and they really want to make it illegal one day to have conservative religious views, because they are "intolerant" and "a plague to society." I think you guys should all look at the first amendment, and how it gives us freedom to practice religion.

This is the explanation of this bill, cause the left-controlled media certainly is not giving it.
