Re: “Turkeys drop, one dies in Yellville. Another proud day for Arkansas

What a great event for children. Let's push some animals out of planes and see if they splatter on the pavement. PLEASE tell me the people in this town aren't breeding.

Hey tourists, if you want a genuine "Deliverance" experience, just head on down to Yellville. I intend to drive through there just so I can see what ignorance in the flesh looks like. If I need a meal or drink, I'll be heading out of state.

Re: “Terrified turkeys to fall from sky again

Here's the PETA link to this year's event with helpful contact info for the Yellville good ole boys. When calling, please be polite.

Intentionally subjecting children to scenes of animal cruelty and abuse is actually child abuse.

Perhaps Family Services could show up to take those kids away from the families who appear ill prepared to raise them in a healthy manner.

I certainly hope they offer free vasectomies and tube tying for the people frequenting this event. Have those booths set up right by the fried twinkies and kettle corn.

Re: “Terrified turkeys to fall from sky again

The problem with the turkey drop is of course, a turkey is not really a flight bird and it's also not the brightest animal on the block. They can fly for very short distances at very low altitudes. They're not equipped to take flight at 1000 feet from an airplane flying 70 mph. Thus, you have videos of these birds plummeting to Earth like rocks in some cases. Others may break wings or legs. So many of these birds don't pop up and start running like cartoon animals. In fact, some don't get up at all. This is called animal cruelty and it's not a behavior that should be taught to children.

I have called the Yellville Chamber of Commerce in the past on this event and I've been assured that the City of Yellville no longer has a turkey drop. Officially? No they don't. In reality, the planes "mysteriously" show up and start dropping turkeys. What a mystery.

As the human race evolves, traditions change. For example, we no longer have families picnicking on the courthouse lawns while enjoying the spectacle of public hangings.

Grow up Yellville. You're not run by drunk college frat guys. You're supposed to be adults, setting a good example for children.
