Re: “First Presbyterian Church of North Little Rock

They have a wonderful School Food Pantry that serves children at NLR 7th Street Elementary. This is living their values.

Re: “Riverfest calls it quits

Clearly, RF wasn't targeted at me. I liked it when the Youth Orchestra played (yeah, my kid played) and when you didn't need ear plugs to stand 100 yards away and when you could buy some food that wouldn't give you a heart attack and without taking out a loan. Once, my adult child and I went down on Sunday afternoon and paid $43 each to wander around for about an hour. We enjoyed the acrobats from Africa (free) more than the vendors or bands. Ultimately we walked out and took in the bridge then went home.

Re: “Fighting for the Little Rock School District; absent a state commitment count me a skeptic

The power brokers see public education as a plum ripe for plucking by their business cronies.

There is about one vegetarian option - and it was a heavy, gooey cheese something. Places that serve only meat protein are lazy or unimaginative,

Re: “Consultant proposes major changes in Arkansas Lottery operation

Doesn't anyone say "Good for Arkansans. They recognize that they could use their money to light fires and get more back than purchasing lottery tickets that have odd of payoff of one in millions." Repeal lottery approval. Get rid of this predatory practice. If people want to fund scholarships, there are plenty of ways to directly support students.

Re: “Lost in the wilderness

Susan Inman would have made an outstanding Sec. of State. What a missed opportunity! Why does Arkansas keep shooting itself in the foot? Remember Pat O'Brian? Another lost opportunity.

Re: “UPDATED: State Board of Ed. warns LR School Board: Work together, or face takeover

Little Rock can and does have the best students and best teachers in the state. Graduates of Little Rock public schools compete successfully in the broader arena. There are also children who have not learned what they need to make a success of their adult lives. The district needs to administer in a way that supports success, improves programs, and looks for ways to intervene when needed. Can the district take away the social and environmental conditions surrounding the children they serve? No. But if there is a clear mission and a clear road map to achieve that mission, with the the time schools have children in their care, those lives can be improved. Education is the key to change lives.
