Re: “Protestor chains self to Capitol steps

To OccupyLittleRock, If there are 4 unemployed people for every job posted, I believe I would try to be the one out of four. My point is, one does not get chosen sitting on the Capitol steps protesting/complaining. One year ago at over 50 years old with a high school diploma, it took me two weeks to find a job. That was actively pursuing employment, I made some effort to apply or check on a job every day. I know others more recently that have found work. It is there for those that will pursue employment. I actually have quit my job, because I have worked 30 years of my life and retired, leaving a job open for someone that needs it worse than myself, but I doubt that anyone sitting on the steps of the Capitol will be hired for that job. It may not always be the perfect job, but it might put one in line for a better one. I don't think the banks hire bank presidents off the street. They start at the bottom and work hard for many years to become President.

Re: “Protestor chains self to Capitol steps

I would have left him there till the Governor gets around to talking to him. Of course, that might take a few days and I think it's going to be pretty cold tonight, but he is free to make that choice. I am very sorry that his people were mistreated 180 years ago, but I don't think our Governor had anything to do with that. As for jobs, they are out there, as Orville posted, but I doubt those potential employers will go to the Capitol Steps looking for employees, so I don't think these people will be prospective employees. eLwood, Orville probably already has a job.
