Re: “Foes of horse slaughter cheer Congressional victory

You Folks who call yourselves "life long horse owners" are the problem with the horse industry. You are the people who breed too many horses to sell, and train horses once in their life time, and support the Bred Registry who make money on registering new foals. You are the problem because you make your money off horses and if you can't get rid of the "slacker" it costs you money to keep them in your paddocks. But for many of us who love our horses, ride them daily, show them occasionaly, call them "pets" and do not make money off of them, but enjoy them instead, we are the 80% who will not support horse slaughter but support the horse industry, despite what pro-slaughter folks say. We love our horses just because. And we are pro-horse slaughters worse nightmare. We will fight to keep the slaughtehouses closed and we will be the ones who support the horse welfare community. We are the ones who make it an $85 million dollar a year industry. Horses that go to slaughter are a one time deal. Live horses make the market for the horse industry.Keep that in mind when you slam pro-horse lovers. We are the horse industry not horse slaughter supporters.

Re: “Foes of horse slaughter cheer Congressional victory

In order to save horses from slaughter now we MUST pass the Horse Protection bills, HR 2966 and S 1176. We must stop the transportation across the border. But Canada has already started enforcing the EU rules in that TB's are no longer being accepted at 2 plants in Canada. Mexico has been rejecting horses too. So the writing is on the wall but we must get the bills past for insurance against this horrible industry.
