Re: “Cody Belew talks Heifer benefit, upcoming projects

Sorry... I know you aren't trying to "expose" them. Got a little angry. Heifer really does advocate exactly what you said- The Seeds of Hope project and many others can attest to that. <3

Re: “Cody Belew talks Heifer benefit, upcoming projects

GrizLee Bear-

I wish you would have actually researched a Heifer Project or two. Every single Heifer Project is unique and the vast majority of projects focus not only on sustainable, small-scale animal husbandry, but also on sustainable agriculture, micro-finance, water quality control, women's empowerment, farmer's market development, and MUCH MORE. In fact, one project right here in Arkansas, Seeds of Change, has nothing to do with the production of meat.

Some insight:…

On another note! Many poverty-stricken regions of the world are arid. This means that most forms of agriculture and most vegetables that we are familiar with are just not that effective (hence why these people are still impoverished!). The use of animals in small scale gardens (look up Heifer's Seven M's that animals can provide to poverty-stricken communities- one being manure) is often the tipping point of food production prosperity in these communities. Some parts of the world do not have the luxury of a vegan lifestyle.

I'm sorry if I sound curt, but I really don't understand people who spend their time trying to "expose" development organizations that actually make a positive difference- a BIG one. It might be better to post on a forum about the horrors of MONSANTO... Or ConAgra.... or Tyson... or Wal-Mart.
