Re: “LR Christian bans Mormon 4-year-old

Our oldest "child" attended LRCA when it was Walnut-Valey Christian Academy. I worked as a sub nearly every day, as I was not ready to be a full-time teacher until he was older. Great, great school, represented 54 religions at the time, and that was about 18 years ago. Our youngest attenede LRCA for three years. It changed locations and the overall "personality" of the school was the same in many ways. Personally the one big difference was in the type of families that attended. When our olders was at WVCA, the focus was on the children and their education. I knew ALL of the teachers and subbed in all of the classes; they were just getting their first graduating class when we moved. They all appeared to have the interest of the kid's at heart. Now, it is a much bigger school. And with growth comes change, good an bad. The good that we experienced in three years of middle and high school? A constant goal toward positive change. In big and small ways. The negative? If you are not rich in appearance, you don't fit in. Period. We live well, in a nice neighborhood, but we don't spoil our kids. Some in private, some in public, one homeschooled. We have done it all. And if you don't have a NICE car by age 16, if you don't have great clothes, etc., you are not going to fit in. That is not the fault of the teachers, board members, or administration. This current, very public issue though; embarrassing. And disappointing. Never saw it coming.
