Re: “Atheists' bus ads now on Little Rock streets

I forgot to mention- our UnitedCoR billboard ad also prompted our local all-time favorite TV personality to come "out of the closet" as a nontheist :)

Re: “Atheists' bus ads now on Little Rock streets

"Why would atheists need to advertise?"

Why would a sitting State Governor feel the need to hold a high-profile, well-publicized Jesus Christ snugglefest?

"If they are there for charitable work, what are the charities they support and help?"

Atheists and agnostics do plenty of charity as individuals- we don't need a coercive religious entity to prod us into good works. That being said, many an atheist group has done collective charity work... ours has done food-for-the-needy things as well as charity for animals.

"...Seems like a waste of time."

It is NOT. We sponsored a UnitedCoR billboard campaign in our area back in 2009- we got a big boost in membership & many of those who saw or heard about the ad are great contributors to our local non-theist community. Best of all, the ad provided peace of mind for those who realized that they're "not alone" in their non-belief.
