Re: “Ruth Coker Burks, the cemetery angel

I remember as a nurse in the late '90s placing AIDS patient in isolation room and having to wear full isolation gown in room, I volunteered to care for her each time she came in for a new infection since some of the other nurses 'refused' to go in. She contracted from her husband and had a large family but kept the real reason she was in hospital for fear of stigmatism of the disease. Don't know whatever happened to her since I transferred jobs. I also worked for a medical company and delivery drivers wouldn't deliver meds to HIV patients homes without putting on gown and gloves to step inside home. NW AR only had one HIV doctor who split her time between teaching at UAMS and clinic. Thank God for the angels who cared for and continue to care for those the world and the church had deemed lepers.
