Re: “Greyhounds put in harm's way so racino can prosper

I don't propose to know everything there is to know about greyhound racing or the adoption industry. What I do know it what I've expereinced at the track that the article is about. I LIVE in Memphi, TN 20 minutes from Southland and have been to the races there, I also have seen the news about our local animal shelter and the greyhounds are getting better treatment with air conditioned kennels and food. I KNOW Rachel Hogue and the problem I have here is people ATTACKING Rachel when you don't KNOW her or how SHE cares for the greyhounds in the kennel she works for. Rachel is a wonderful person she knows the greyhounds in her care and does an awesome job caring for those guys. YES I'm sure there are those who don't give a flying fart about the greys in their "care" but that is NOT Rachel. I know Rachel so don't attack someone YOU don't know including myself. I have had 3 greyhounds from the adoption group MidSouth greyhound Adoption Option and ALL came to me healthy, happy, disease free and in overall great health. Two of them did NOT race at Southland but at the now closed Tampa track. There is NO way for ANYONE to know how the greyhounds are treated at every track, every kennel, or by every owner across the world just NOT likely. I also know a few small time owners of greyhounds too and they either keep their hounds upon retirement or have a specific adoption program they go into. One does pre-adoption of his hounds and one of my other friends already has pre-adopted one of his upcoming pups again. MAYBE that is the answer pre-adoption for ALL hounds or a limited number of hounds that a breeder can have each yearnd then pre-adoption. Do I like the idea of greyhound racing not necessarily, but since I DON'T know everything about racing I don't go spouting my mouth about something I'm not a part of or that I Don't know EVERYTHING about. What I do KNOW is my hounds LOVE to run as they do whenever they are in a group of other hounds playing and without greyhound racing where will the breed be in 10years? Yes there are AKC greyhounds but sorry they are NOT the same as NGA. I LOVE my greyhounds IF I could take them with me everywhere I would. It makes me want to hurrel just thinking about the cruelty some hounds have faced at the hands of the human race. What we SHOULD be doing is NOT fighting amongst ourselves but working TOGETHER to solve the problem which of course is the Cruelty to all animals in any form.
1Kings 3:16-28 Two young women who lived in the same house and who both had an infant son came to Solomon for a judgement. One of the women claimed that the other, after accidentally smothering her own son while sleeping, had exchanged the two children to make it appear that the living child was hers. The other woman denied this and so both women claimed to be the mother of the living son and said that the dead boy belonged to the other.
After some deliberation, King Solomon called for a sword to be brought before him. He declared that there is only one fair solution: the live son must be split in two, each woman receiving half of the child. Upon hearing this terrible verdict, the boy's true mother cried out, "Please, My Lord, give her the live child—do not kill him!" However, the liar, in her bitter jealousy, exclaimed, "It shall be neither mine nor yours—divide it!" Solomon instantly gave the live baby to the real mother, realizing that the true mother's instincts were to protect her child, while the liar revealed that she did not truly love the child.
