I just did an interview on my blog with Dr. Sexton who has done research at the University of Washington on the system in the body that cannabis (marijuana) effects. She and other doctors attest to it's positive clinical effects on a number of issues including pain and multiple sclerosis. With the current scheduling of Marijuana as a Class I drug federally it is very hard to do clinical research in regards to it's effects on humans. The supreme court is hearing a case tomorrow to possibly change Marijuana's scheduling. More research is needed on this drug, but it is currently prevented federally because of it's classification. Most of what doctor's have to go on now when recommending cannabis is clinical experience.
