Re: “KARK: Spoof video not a laughing matter

Thank you, deathbyinches. You get it. Everyone who is posting about Pete saying things, he didn't say he hated his job or call his wife a semen demon, he was playing a character. Granted, it was a little close to home, but that's like holding actors in a drama accountable for what their characters say. They were working on a script for the 48 hour fim festival, and practicing. Pete, Courtney, Jake, and the other staff member who was fired are all extremely well respected hard workers, and great people to boot.

Was it smart? No. But it's easy to make judgement calls when you're not in that moment, especially if you are so comfortable in your surroundings that you don't imagine things will be misconstrued.

And who among us hasn't used company equipment in way that could be used against us? Ever job hunt on your computer? Ever work on your resume? Ever talk to a potential employer while on company time? It's not exactly the same, but close enough.

Of course it shouldn't have been posted for public viewing the way it was. But I think some other sort of reprimand should have been made. The other behind the scenes staff members that were involved got a 3 day suspension.

And how exactly does it "degrade and discredit our community"?

No matter whether you thought it was funny or not, it was merely a comedy piece poking fun at a business that takes itself entirely too seriously. Exhibit A: managers at KARK and Nexstar. Give me a break.
