Re: “Arkansas Times seeks to measure sexual assault in Arkansas

How about those of us who were sexually assaulted as teen boys by adult women? Yeah...we're the silent minority. And the fact that it happened 35 years ago makes it even more of a minority. Only three people on the planet know about this--me, the step mother who did it, and my current spouse. "Nobody would ever believe me" is what she always told me when she did it. My body reacted as a 15-year-old boy's body would react, even though it was against my wishes. I wish for her to die a miserable death, but that's never what happens. Karma found her late in life, and that's all I have to hold on to. She's not been my stepmother for many years, but the memory of her abuse is very fresh. Don't let the #MeToo lie fully on the women. It happens to men and boys, too!

Re: “UPDATED: Johnny Key dumps Baker Kurrus as Little Rock school superintendent; to replace with Bentonville's Poore

Morris, my wife has been a teacher at the LRSD for the past 17 years, so I know what I'm talking about. I've seen first-hand what kind of garbage Johnny Key is up to. It's as plain as the nose on your face. It's a goddamned shame that the biggest victims here are the students. Tens of thousands of students who are now being traded like cattle to the highest bidder. Students who are being taught garbage to pass some stupid test, rather than teaching them practical things like how to file taxes and how to buy a home. Let's teach them, instead, how 5+5=13, shall we? There isn't a stronger advocate for the teachers in the LRSD than myself. But sometimes, you have to cut your losses and get out. This is bigger than you, it's bigger than me, it's bigger than any of us. The LRSD has the ONE thing that the Walton machine needs--poor students who can't afford to move (as you said). The machine will chew up kids who had a chance and spit out poorly-educated, unprepared waste products. There are no winners here, except for those wearing the tailored suits. RIP to the LRSD.

I'm so glad we're moving out of this district and out of this city. The Walton corruption and the peddling of the students as commodities is an outrage. The district is headed for a fall, and if you choose to leave your kids there, that's a mistake. It's time to go and let the talking head with the DoE run the schools into the ground. What a crock of shit. Johnny Key, you can kiss my shiny white ass.
