Re: “UPDATE: Sandy Hook massacre a hoax? Two Arkansas candidates seem to think so

Yes, that oft overlooked militia clause. It is so vitally important to the second amendment, yet ignored even more than "infringed". It is the right of the people to bear arms, clearly stated. Primary purpose? To have a well armed militia ready at a moment's notice. Not to hunt. Not to collect. To have a well equipped citizen ready to combat the armies of any tyrannical government. And what government did the framers fear most? All of them. Any that would or could use force to take away the liberties and inalienable rights of the people. Individual people. People that would need arms to defend those rights. Military grade arms. That's why the militia clause is there. I always found it ironic that it was the far left anti-gunners that always want to point out that my individual right to bear arms should not be limited to semi-auto small arms, but necessarily include fully automatic weapons, artillery, tanks, assault helicopters, combat jets, etc... I understand the common sense approach to the amendment that most on the right take, ignoring the militia clause so as not to recognize the rights to bear such powerful arms. I just don't understand the lefties trying to nullify the second amendment by pointing out the clause that shows how much that right has already been infringed upon.
