Re: “A test of American exceptionalism: Obama says U.S. to take Syrian refugees

The U.S. already has a huge immigrant crisis- where is the government going to put 10,000 refugees?
Our country is nearly broke, we are "recovering" from a recession (unemployment is still ridiculously high), and we can't even agree how to handle the immigrants we already have - immigrants that continue to stream in every day. How can we possibly take in and provide even the barest of necessities for 10,000 more people?
I am not against immigration, Muslims, or Syrians. Right now, people in the Middle East desperately need help. I cannot imagine the suffering they have endured. However, America is barely holding it together as it is- absorbing 10,000 more people (pretty much all at once) is humane in the short run, but in the long run, allowing and providing for 10,000 more (and unexpected) people will only sink this country further into chaos.
