Re: “U.S. Supreme Court appeal planned on birth certificate ruling

I did not see this until after I had sent this e-mail to both state senators Greg Standridge (R-Russellville) & Gary Stubblefield (R-Branch). I hope that this will at least make them stop and THINK. Although that might be asking to much.

Subject: Potty Police - House Bill 346
I assume from my subject title you know where this is going.

With all the important issues facing the people of this state and this country that you are even bothering with such a bill is an insult.

Who cares where anyone goes potty. I have used the mens room when the line is too long at the ladies, which is another issue. I have stood guard while my hubby used the ladies for the same reason.

Having a man in the ladies, or a lady in the mens room is not the end all of the universe. If I walk into the mens and anyone wants to leave fine, if I walk in and find a man in the ladies I have no problem. If the intent by either party is sexual that would be handled under other laws.

Companies can take whatever action they want on private property in the title of the potty room. Family, CoEd, Mixed, Either/Or, Litter Box, whatever. Potty is potty. If open to one open to all.

Other topics you might want to focus on:
Affordable insurance my rates have doubled and coverage has dropped on my plan.
Condition of roads and bridges.
Condition of dams in the state ask California if that is an important topic.
Medical marijuana get it going please. My 88-year old mother cannot wait to see if it will help her symptoms.
Environmental issues addressed at a state level since obviously the federal level, pardon the pun, is going down the toilet with environmental issues.
Funding for law enforcement - someone has to be the potty police.
Education stop teaching to a test and educate to the best of the abilities of the students to learn.

I am sure you can come up with even more worthwhile subjects.

I am not in your district and doubt if I would have voted for you if I had been. But you are sworn to serve the people of this state that is what I am asking you to do, serve dont grand stand.

Re: “Inside the Little Rock ministry favored by the Duggars

I knew many families involved in Gothard Ministries in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area in the early, mid to late 80s and into the early 90s. They were without a will of their own and without any doubt of the path the MUST follow.

The children that left the ministry and families were very shell shocked in the "real" world. Counselors that work with cult survivors have told me the Gothard kids/adults are very hard to work with and return to "normal" function.

One couple that wanted to leave had to be basically deprogrammed - they started the process and had lots of support. Once they decided to leave the other Gothard families turned their backs on them and they and their children were shunned at church, home school group and other social groups filled with Gothard families. They continued the "leaving" and later realized how controlled they had been.

How a never married man can control so many families, children & adults is amazing to me. They are no different than any other cult victims. He is evil - always has been, always will be.

Re: “A child left unprotected

I hope the girls have a lawyer that will take the "adoptive" parents to court and get a judgement that will pay for their pain and suffering. The girls deserved better than they got in the process. The honorable State Rep needs to loose his elected office. He needs serious help in taking off his rose colored glasses and seeing what he is responsible for. The rape of a child cannot be forgiven and he aided in the crime. His pants may have stayed zipped but he and his wife set up the situation. They must take responsibility for their actions... So should the third family if they were aware of the rape and did not report it. If the new family did not know about the rape they knew of the rehoming and should have reported it.

May these girls grow to be strong women. They deserve better than the adults they were given to start life with.

Re: “Guns-on-campus foe points to UALR prof shooting

This man did not go on campus & kill students or other staff. He did not walk into a mall and shoot into the crowd. This man did not get up on an overpass and shoot at cars.

What this man did was terrible, uncalled for & wrong. But banning guns on campus would not have saved his wife & sister.

If someone wants to do evil he/she will do it - in the place & at the time he/she picks BUT if others are prepared they may or may not be victims. I would rather be in a crowd with 100 people with guns rather than with only one person with a gun. The odds improve in my opinion.

Re: “Little Rock's flyover status grows, thanks to changes in the airline business

I have to fly for business. Tomorrow I catch a 9:45 flight, go to Dallas Love THEN go to New Orleans - will not get in until 2pm. I have had to drive to Memphis several times to get "cheaper direct flights" that make the company happy but are a pain for me. Drive to Memphis, fly to destination... work several days... fly back to Memphis then drive back to LR. Even flights out of Memphis are harder to work with.

If not an international airport the regional airports are going to continue going down in the number of flights. Flying out of LR is easy, few lines, quick security & relaxed BUT if I can not get the flights I need it is not going to matter.

Re: “The troubling case of Christopher Sowell

I am listing to "The Confession" by Grisham on an audio book. Anyone who thinks "false confessions" do not happen is in la-la land. I would never answer any questions by the police about any crime unless I had a lawyer at my side. I have nothing to hide and most police are good and honorable men/women BUT the possibility for "misunderstandings" is always there.

People have "visited" death row then been provide innocent. How many innocent have been put to death? Even one is to many - bad guys lie, cheat, steal & worse but some good or sort of good guys get trapped in a web as well and end up on death row.

I trust the system to a point... but I also trust that I can avail myself to my rights under the law.

Re: “New UALR survey finds a lack of basic 'financial literacy' among inmates

Education frees minds, bodies & souls. Educate the young, educate the old, educate everyone.

Our schools teach to pass a "test" for funding - not to educate for a lifetime of good decisions.

I think inmates should have a choice of working 8 hours a day & doing classes 2 hours a day OR working 4 hours a day & doing classes 6 hours a day. Either way they learn a skill & improve their education level or improve their education level & learn a skill.
