Re: “Right-wingers blast Jay Barth appointment to state Board of Education

The only surprising thing about Pelley and Cox's reactions, Max, is that so many of your loyal readers are surprised by them. Hard-line right-wingers have never been bashful about bashing anything and anyone left of center on the political spectrum, but then, a lot of your readers, judging by their comments, don't really show much respect for those to the right of them. I think it's sad that there are people like Pelley and Cox who want to marginalize a person's qualifications based solely on one aspect of their life, like their sexuality. It also saddens me that so many people are willing to categorize Ms. Pelley and Mr. Cox as "evil" because they cling to certain aspects of their religion that don't allow them to be accepting of homosexuals. Could we not allow for them to be misguided souls who mean well? As a parent of two kids in Arkansas public schools, I have high hopes that Professor Barth will bring about positive change for our schools.
