Re: “Casting out demons: why Justin Harris got rid of kids he applied pressure to adopt

How, legally, have the girls been adopted to other families? It seems like their would either have to have been a court proceeding terminating the Harrises' parental rights or they would have had to voluntarily sign legal documents giving up their parental rights. Until that is done, the Harrises were the girls' legal parents and they were eligible to be legally adopted by other families. But the story says they have now been adopted, so at some point the Harrises parental rights were terminated (either by court order or voluntarily). I'd love to know how/when that happened.

Re: “Justin Harris: Former legislator sympathetic to criticism of DHS

The letter doesn't mention Justin Harris or say that Jeffress is sympathetic to him. Where did those comments come from? Were they made directly to the Times? Or are we supposed to infer that from the letter?

Re: “Leslie Rutledge fires almost two dozen to begin tenure as attorney general

These weren't "wealthy attorneys" (they are state employees, not private practice) and they weren't political appointees. Not only is it crazy to fire well-qualified experienced attorneys who are good at their jobs, it is rude and classless to do it in the way she did. Giving no notice, no severance pay, and no face-to-face explanation of why, to attorneys and staff that had loyally served the office for years (even decades). Firing two dozen AG's office employees isn't the same as replacing the heads of departments or replacing political appointees - that is expected, and all of McDaniel's top people had already left! This is about cleaning out mid-level workers in order to free up money and jobs for her friends. I would bet that those attorneys who didn't get fired are looking for new jobs anyway; why would anyone want to stay there and work in that environment?

Re: “The 3 Best: Cookies

Unfortunately, I too now avoid Silvek's due to their terrible customer service. I just don't want to shop at a place where the employees act irritated and put out to be filling my order.

Re: “Food Feedback Friday: sausage, sashimi, and Santa Lucia

@Michael Roberts - Your comment to a reader that, if they desire better reporting on a topic that your blog already claims to be covering, then they can pay for your gas and vehicle maintenance really makes me wish the Times would get someone a little more professional to write this blog. @11 of Me's comment was a perfectly valid complaint. It is ridiculous to claim that a reader needs to "reimburse you for all the food you've eaten" in researching for this blog - you signed up for this! If reporting on food options outside of Little Rock is such a hassle for you, I think a great solution would be for someone else to write Eat Arkansas.
