Re: “Best on beef

I have to add that Sassy's does, indeed, have excellent fresh cut fries, as well as stellar ribs. I have both every time I visit.

Re: “Emergency transport lacking after fight that proved fatal

The "one ambulance for the county" argument is hogwash. Fairfield bay, 20 miles from Clinton on the eastern edge of Van Buren County, is vitually swimming in ambulances. Well, not swimming, but there are several based there. Maybe the primary ambulance provider for Clinton only had one available at the time, but there were certainly other ambulances within an hour's drive that could have assisted. And that leaves out entirely the option of helicopter transport. Is there not a system whereby a rural hospital can put out an urgent call for emergency transportation of a critical patient? In 11 years living in Batesville, we listened to choppers coming and going from White River Medical Center several times a week. They weren't based in Batesville -- they had to be coming from somewhere.

Wow, Mr. Pope. You are really quite an idiot, aren't you?

Re: “An early open line

I'm in temporary digs in Springdale, courtesy of my employer, for the time being. Wife and kids remaining in Poke Bayou until school is out in May. That gives us time to look around for a permanent home.

Re: “An early open line

I lived in an NPR dead spot for 10 years in Batesville. Fringe reception between KASU in Jonesboro and KUAR in LR. Sure, KUAR says they have a repeater station in Batesville, but it has only operated for about 7 days out of 10 years. I called the station and spoke to Ben Fry about it. He said the repeater station was always going out of commission, but he would get someone to check on it. Sure enough, suddenly there was a signal, but it went away after about a week and never returned. For 18 months I commuted 50 miles from Batesville to Fairfield Bay. KASU to Drasco, KUAR the rest of the way. On a good day. Many were the days that neither came in worth a damn.

Moot point. I am now in my third week of employment in Springdale, listening to the crystal clear KUAF.

Re: “Friday night flights

It's official. New job in Springdale next month. Bye bye, Poke Bayou. So, for any of you NWA denizens out there, where should a family with two extremely bright kids choose to live in Wallysonville?
